Passwords

Take extra precaution to protect your passwords. The simpler and shorter your passwords are, the easier they are to crack.

Here are some simple steps to create a strong password:

  • Make your passwords lengthy – passwords should be at least 8 characters.
  • Combine upper and lower case letters with numbers and various symbols such as:

! @ # $ % & * ?.

  • Use words, phrases, and sentences you will remember, but will be difficult for someone else to crack.
  • Avoid sequences or repeated characters.
  • Think of a sentence. Take the first letter from each word, combine with various symbols. Use symbols that look like letters. Ex: Rob Smith 50 – Nancy Smith 49 Live In Hillsboro. The Password would be: R$5-N$4L1H
  • Write down your password and store it in a secure spot.
